Hello everyone,
Below is my entry for Susanna Leonard Hills 1st Annual Valentiny Writing Contest. The story can be up to 214 words and someone needs to be grumpy.
When my son gets angry he says, "I'm grumpys!" and storms off. So this is loosely based on him. It came in at a whopping 109 words.
And now for your consideration, "I'm Grumpys!"
I’m Grumpys!
Sally woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
She rolled over quickly and bonked her head.
“I’m grumpys!”
She sprang out of bed and landed on a toy.
So far this Valentine’s Day was not full of joy.
“I’m grumpys!”
She walked to the kitchen and the table was bare.
She searched for her mother but found her nowhere.
“I’m grumpys!”
Her mother came in with a big white box.
Inside was her favorite breakfast, heart shaped bagels with
cream cheese and no lox.
“I’m not so grupmys.”
“Happy Valentine’s Day!” her mom said with a smile.
Sally had the best day she’d had in a while.
Hahaha, Sally changed when she saw the box. Great story and great job on the WC. I like how you based it on your son. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sally. =)
DeleteYou can't be grumpsy on a day someone brings you bagels. It's not possible. Yum.
ReplyDeleteI agree with that Heather. =)
DeleteWhat a sweet story. Love that your son inspired it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Beverley. He inspires a lot of my stories.
DeleteGrumpys! That's so cute! I imagine this expression goes along with an adorable little pout.
ReplyDeleteHe does have an adorable little pout when he is grumpys. =)
DeleteCute story! And bagels have a way of making even grumpy little people happier!
ReplyDeleteThank you Angela. I think I;ll get my son a bagel the next time he is grumpys. =)
DeleteSweet, Grumpys story Gregory! Sally sounded like she may have exploded any minute, but all turned out well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michelle.
DeleteSounds like my kiddo too. Cream cheese on heart shaped bagels would definitely do the trick though.

ReplyDeleteLox for you Jean. =) Thank you.
DeleteGreat story! Funny how it often just takes one small thing to completely change ones mood. Bagels would work for me too! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra. Chocolate usually works for me. =)
DeleteI think the "no lox" would make me grumpys, but I'm glad it cheered up Sally. You've done a great job with your rhymes!
ReplyDeleteThank you Leslie. Of course yours would have lox. =)

ReplyDeleteThank you Charlotte. I'll be getting bagels soon. =)
DeleteI'm suddenly hungry for lox! Also, I think "I'm Grumpys" would make an adorable t-shirt. A guaranteed hug-attracter!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the idea Lauri. I am working on the shirts now. =)
